DJ APRYL REIGN began her journey as a DJ/Producer in 1996 on the college campus of Central State University. It was there that she perfected her skills in crowd movement and cornered the market ranging from home coming bashes to Greek step shows and parties. Deejaying was only step one of her plan to become a strong force within the hip hop community. Step two was to learn how to create good, quality, hip hop music. She was taken in under the wing of independent record label because of her innate ability for beat production. Not only did she begin to refine her musical craft, she also gained valuable knowledge about the ins and outs of the industry. On this quest, she also demonstrated her versatility as seen by the different venues she’s been able to perform: 1996 – 2001 Massive club, college, and house parties including weddings. 1998 Won 2nd place in DJ battle, Hip Hop Expo Columbus Ohio. 1998 Showcased at Ohio University’s DJ Battle headlined by The Xecutioners! From 2002 to present, she DJ’s at lounge sets, poetry shows, and private parties. During her Reign as a turntablist, she observed the declining plight of hip hop and its detrimental affects on children and young people. When she realized how influential deejaying is and how she was partly responsible for this catastrophe, she decided to take action; which lead her to this goal: To create and promote music that is encouraging, uplifting and life changing for mankind. Reign’s CD “Reignsongs 4da Soul” lines up perfectly with this endeavor. Described as “pure Genius” by Cincinnati’s City Beat, she poetically blends a wide variety of music ranging form classic rock to hip hop to create a story line designed for soul replenishment and enlightenment. Even with all this, she’s still attempting to re-invent herself. Reign has been teaching DJ Classes at Elementz since 2005. Her vast experience and knowledge in this element of Hip-Hop has helped students explore the many avenues that deejaying provides especially in the area of entrepreneurship. She graduated from Dayton Dunbar High School and then from Central State in 1997 with a degree in Psychology. http://djaprylreign.com
